Rachel SimringVocalsBirthplace: Brooklyn, New York Day Job: Owner of Club Amigos, one of Colorado's premier Spanish Enrichment Programs for elementary-aged children General Self-Description: I'm a fast-talking, sharp-minded ball of energy who is quick to laugh and even quicker to try and make others laugh. I have several jobs, a handful of hobbies and a bunch of side projects. I tire people out just telling them of all the activities I have going on at any one time. Instruments: One newly mended right vocal cord and a never-injured left one. Favorite album of all time: Patty Griffin's Flaming Red. DO NOT: ask me to dance. Why do you play honky tonk music? Because Ben made me. No, really, it's more fun than anything I have ever sang. And from a songwriter's perspective, I think the lyrics are great and I personally enjoy the construction and formula of a well-written country song. People really dig it, too. What are you currently reading I am fascinated by true crime books. Ann Rule is my personal fave. People are surprised to learn: I'm a baseball nut. I particularly love the Yankees. Though I'm in love with Derek Jeter (what girl isn't?), Bernie Williams is (was) my long-time favorite. Other bands: Former leader of rachel's playpen, a rock band of my originals and favorite rock covers. While the band is no longer together, the experience is one I wouldn't trade for the world. Hobbies: I enjoy writing songs, playing guitar, creating songs and games in which to teach Spanish, rollerblading and spending time with my two dogs. I also do a lot of volunteer work at local animal shelters. |
